Dennis Quaid Saves the Best for Last with Knoxville

After walking down a red carpet at the Pinnacle theatre in Turkey Creek, Dennis Quaid took time to reflect on his time spent in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Even though he has previously visited Chattanooga, Memphis and Nashville, Quaid explained that he was saving the best for last with Knoxville.

“I love East Tennessee. Dolly Parton’s from East Tennessee,” he said in an interview with KnoxNews.

The actor known for his roles in “A Dog’s Purpose”, “The Rookie”, “The Parent Trap” and others, visited Knoxville on Tuesday night for Regal Entertainment Group’s annual fundraising event for the Variety of Eastern Tennessee.

During the event, Quaid was given the opportunity to greet fans while also attending an advanced screening of the upcoming film “Midway” and a catered reception.

The event raised more than $430,000 for Variety of Eastern Tennessee, according to John Curry, senior vice president of food service & Cinebarre at Regal Entertainment Group.

The event also brought a notable amount of attention to the Variety of Eastern Tennessee, which benefits at risk, physically challenged, abused, and neglected children.

Following the event, Quaid expressed his admiration for the Knoxville community and the effort they had put forth to raise the money.

“They raised $10 million, over $10 million, and… it says a lot about a community too that everybody pitches in and helps everyone else,” he said in an interview with KnoxNews. “Families really need a lot of help, and it’s kids, you know. We’ve all got to take care of our kids.”
